Resumo: Were evaluated the anesthetic effects of menthol, benzocaine and the clove oil in pacu (Piaractus mesopotamicus), Nile tilápia (Oreochromis niloticus), of the chitralada ancestry, and matrinxã (Brycon cephalus). Were tested in concentrations of 100, 150, 200 and 250 mg/L of each anaesthetic, being three animals for each dosage. For matrinxã, oil of clove was analyzed only in the treatments of 100 and 150 mg/L. The time of induction to the anesthesia and the recovery were recorded. There were no mortality during and 72 hours after the experiment. Concentrations of 100 and 150 mg/L of clove oil, and all dosages the menthol and benzocaine tested induced the pacus to the deep anesthesia. Concentrations of the 200 and 250 mg/L of clove oil, took the stage to pacus surgical anesthesia. The menthol induced the tilapia to deep anesthesia, at dosages of 100 and 150 mg/L, and 200 and 250 mg/L of this anaesthetic induced the tilapia to the surgical anesthesia. All tested concentrations of benzocaine induced these animals to the surgical anesthesia. And all the treatments whith clove oil tilapia led to the stage of deep anesthesia. The three anaesthetics, at all concentrations evaluated, led matrinxãs to the stage of deep anesthesia. The menthol, benzocaine and clove oil were easily manipulated, and offered security for the operator during the biometrics and marking of the fish. These anaesthetics were effective to induce pacu, tilapia of the tailandesa Nile and matrinxãs, to the anesthesia. The concentration of 100 mg/L menthol, clove oil and benzocaine, was better to induce pacu (Piaractus mesopotamicus) to deep anesthesia. The dosage of 200 mg/L of clove oil was more effective to induce surgical anesthesia for pacu. The dosage of 100 mg/L of menthol was more efficient to induce the nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) tailandesa to the stage of deep anesthesia. The dosage of 200 mg/L mentol was the best dosage to induce tilapia for surgical anesthesia. The concentration 100 mg/L of benzocane was the most efficient to induce tilapia of the tailandesa Nile to surgical anesthesia. For the induction of tilapia of the tailandesa Nile to the stage of deep anesthesia, the dosage of 150 mg/l of clove oil was the most effective. The concentration of 100 mg/L of menthol, benzocainn and clove oil was the most efficient to induce the matrinxã (Brycon cephalus) to the stage of deep anesthesia.
