The aim of this study is to diagnose the workers Quality of Life at Work (QVT) in a laundry of the slaughtering and meat processing industry, seeking to understand the environmental (physical, biological and ergonomic) and the socio-cultural risk conditions. An assessment of the QVT in the laundry, through the indicators, shows that the workers are satisfied , even with adverse situations such as restricted physical space, insufficient capacity of equipment, raised ambient temperatures, crossed flow of clothes, lack of ventilation, no use of PPE s (Personal Protection Equipments), work environment without separation into specific areas for each activity, poor conditions in the physical organization and cleaning of the work environment being observed. When referring to the aspects defining QVT for the workers of the laundry, it can be inferred that these are: Environment with good working conditions; Team work; motivation and training of the employees. With regard to the possible risk types that the work environment could present to the workforce, it can be concluded that these are: Physical risks: represented by the high ambient temperature, lack of good ventilation and excessive noise and humidity; Biological risks: represented by the presence of microorganisms from blood, feces and urine contaminating the clothing, due to the ineffective use of PPE s when handling the clothes; contamination of the air environment; lack of knowledge of the inherent risks posed by the tasks undertaken by the workers in the laundry; Ergonomic risks: represented by the adoption of incorrect postures, which are imposed by deficiencies in the equipments and in the general work environment, and for the progress of the whole work in standing positions. These risks are worsened by the nonexistence of standards or specific techniques for the organization of this class of laundry. The study made possible the understanding of the principal factors involved in the process of improvement of QVT in the studied laundry. Approached from an ergonomic point of view, those factors contribute significantly to a better performance by the worker, with a reduction of fatigue, greater work satisfaction and, consequently, greater productivity.
