The objective of this study was to characterize the profile of milk production in some of Acre properties. We selected 240 dairy herds distributed entres the Rio Branco municipalities, Plácido de Castro, Acre, Acre Port and the Southern Cross. A semi-structured questionnaires using some of the techniques Diagnostic Rapid Participatory (DRP). We evaluated the socio-economic characteristics of producers and variables related to general information about the property, infrastructure, management of milking, handling food, health and reproductive, besides zootecnical indicators of the herd. Overall socio-economic aspects of the producers are inefficient for your stay exclusively in dairy farming, with a view to low qualification of farmers and the low level of education, as well as a fickle technical assistance and access to credit trouble investments in new technologies. Given the above, it is evident that the socio- economic aspects of the producers are inefficient for your stay exclusively in dairy farming, given the low qualification of the farmer and the low level of education, as well as a fickle technical assistance and the difficulty access to credit for investments in new technologies. Thus, it is necessary to seek alternatives and incentives in the medium and long-term activity, with consolidation of production structure, reducing input costs and technical guidance for the producer, generating greater profitability and conditions to stay in the activity. The milk productivity in the state is low, requiring greater investments in the activity, either by the private sector through rural credit programs in the acquisition of matrices, equipment and pastures reforms, or through an incentive policy for the region.
