Resumo: This study evaluated twelve months the adaptive capacity and variations in physiological and reproductive parameters four Alpine male goats raised in tropical climate of altitude. The ambient temperature, relative humidity and black globe temperature, to calculate the BGHI, were collected at five times of the day, three times for week, during the four annual seasons. The maximum and minimum temperature and luminosity were recorded daily, while seminal, hormonal, blood, behavioral assessments, respiratory and heart rates, and rectal and surface temperatures were carried out fortnightly. There was difference between the mean values of surface temperature, respiratory rate, hormones and some hematological parameters (total protein and monocytes) between the seasons (P<0,05). However, no were observed cases of heat stress, based on physiological parameters were within normal and expected for goats. There was difference (P<0,05) between the monthly average scrotal circumference, testicular volume, volume and concentration of fresh semen, sperm vigor of the thawed semen, serum levels of testosterone, FSH and LH and some sexual behaviors of courtship and copulation. Annual variations in testicular and seminal parameters may have been determined by the reproductive and non‐reproductive seasons, mainly by the frequency of use of breeding males. The seminal parameters throughout the experimental period were near or above those values recommended by the Brazilian College of Animal Reproduction (CBRA), and no differences were observed during the progressive motility and functionality of the membrane (hyposmotic test) for thawed semen (P>0,05), it can be inferred that the environment has not led to changes in sperm plasma membranes and decreased semen quality. At a 10% polyacrylamide gel were identified 22 protein bands with molecular weights of 25‐181 kDa, while the 14% gel were identified 16 protein bands with molecular weights of 5.7 to 165 kDa. Just the protein fractions of 5.7 and 34.3 to 34.5 kDa showed a varying profile with the reproductive seasonality of goats, with increased production during the breeding season. In the analysis of biochemical parameters was observed that the concentrations of calcium, phosphorus and cholesterol also showed seasonal variation during the experimental period. However, analysis of the progressive motility of fresh and thawed semen, as well as the hyposmotic test in thawed semen showed no change during the experimental period (P>0,05). Thus, it is concluded that the male goats of the Alpine, reared intensively, keep homeothermy and great adaptability to the conditions of the tropical climate of altitude. Furthermore, the changes that occurred in the quantity and quality sperm, in the hormonal profile and some sexual behaviors, should not be regarded as an impediment to the use of Alpine male goats in tropical altitude climate throughout the year. These variations are related to the frequency of coverage of females, or influence of photoperiod, and not lead to changes in the semen that may compromise the fertilizing capacity of these animals.
