Puberdade, maturidade sexual e parâmetros gestacionais em marrãs da raça Piau e linhagem comercial

The objectives of this study were to see the puberty/sexual maturity events and to asses pre-natal use/loss through of uterus phenotypic dates from Piau breed and Commercial line gilts. In the first phase, were used 62 gilts (37 Piau breed and 25 Commercial line), from 120 days of age until demonstrate the third estrous. In the second phase, 54 females were inseminated and distributed in three groups based on the type of crossing: Group 1: Commercial line females x Commercial line male (n=18); Group 2: Piau breed females x Commercial line male (n=18) and Group 3: Piau breed females x Piau breed male (n=18). Each group was divided in six subgroups based on the pregnancy age out slaughter (7, 15, 30, 45, 60 and 90d). In the first phase, there was no difference between the puberty age (203.7±37.7; 190.5±28d) and sexual maturity (247.2±38.5; 236.8±27.6d) in Piau breed and Commercial line gilts, respectively (P>0.05). In the second phase, the Commercial line females had higher ovulation rate, uterine weight and length and thoracic perimeter and length fetuses (P<0.05), however, the number of fetuses was similar in all groups (P>0.05) at 90 days of pregnancy. Moreover, the placental efficiency had a linear behavior with respect to advancing gestational age, without differences among the three groups (P>0.05). The results demonstrate that puberty and sexual maturity events in Piau breed and Commercial line females are related with the age and, at 90 days of pregnancy, the Piau breed females have the same behavior about placental efficiency that Commercial line females. The Piau breed females have higher embryonic/fetal survival until the end of pregnancy with respect to ovulation rate within the group.
