Efeitos dos extratos de Heteropterys aphrodisiaca O. Mach. (nó-de-cachorro) e Anemopaegma arvense (Vell.) Stellfeld & J.F. Souza (vergateza) sobre o testículo e o processo espermatogênico de ratos Wistar adultos

In Brazil, the use of the medicinal plants constitutes a direct form of medicine attainment and based on the traditional knowledge and practices they occupy a prominence place in the treatment of illnesses. Between some utilities, the aphrodisiac awakens special interest of the population and substances of diverse species are consumed with this purpose. In this sense in the state of Mato Grosso the species Heteropterys aphrodisiaca O. Mach. (nó-de-cachorro) and the Anemopaegma arvense (Vell.) Stellfeld & J.F. Souza (vergateza) stand out. The aim of the work was to evaluate the effects of the rough extract of roots of those species on the corporal biometry, the testicle, the spermatogenic process, the reserve and the spermatic production of adult rats Wistar chronically treated. 72 male rates Wistar in reproductive age were divided into seven groups. Five groups were exposed to daily gavage for 56 consecutive days; the animals of the control group received 0.5 ml of salt solution and the other four groups received 0.5 mL of extracts obtained from the two species in two different concentrations 12.5 g and 25 g diluted in 100 mL of water. Two groups had been treated with infusions of the two species for the same period, being 20 mL of the extract with lesser concentration diluted in 80 mL of water consumed ad libitum. The extract of H. aphrodisiaca in the lesser concentration caused significant increase in the corporal weight, in the intertubular volume, in the tubular diameter and in the thickness of the seminiferous epithelium. Besides, the groups treated with larger concentrations of the extract and with the infusion ad libitum of the same plant, had shown increase in the testicular weight, in the testicular parenchyma, in the vesicular glands weight and in the primary spermatocyte populations in pachytene and rounded spermatid by cross- section. The animals treated with the lesser concentration of A. arvense registered an increase in thediameter and thickness of the seminiferous tubule.Similar increases were also registered in animals treated with larger concentration of the extract of A. arvense by gavage and in the group treated with the ad libitum infusion of the same plant, that, additionally, showed significant increases in the corporal weight, testicular weight, testicular parenchyma weight, vesicular glands weight, in the intertubular volume, and in the primary spermatocyte populations in pachytene and rounded spermatid by crosssection. The total tubules length by meter and gram of testicle, the total spermatic reserve and by testicle gram and the diary spermatic production and diary spermatic production by testicle gram were lesser in every treatments, compared to the control group. Concludes that the increase of the intertubular tissue and vesicular glands reflected in the increase of the biometric parameters evaluated and that the length loss of seminiferous tubules was determinative for the reserve and spermatic reduction of animals treated.
