Poverty reduction and the search for the of the population well-being have occupied the public policies agenda in Brazil and around the world, encouraging the development of projects and programs aimed at strengthening the weakest segments of the population . In rural areas, in order to reduce poverty and improve the living conditions of farmers, was created in 1996 the National Program for Strengthening Family Agriculture - Pronaf , a funding program that encourages the development and sustainability of family farmers, stimulating investment in own activities and locations. Since its foundation, the Pronaf expanded throughout the country, attending different groups of farmers, especially the low-income farmers, with access to the Rural Microcredit - Pronaf B. This research aims to evaluate the contracted resources efficiency through Pronaf B and their results on the quality of life of family farmers in the Minas Gerais state. For this purpose, we used the (1) Data Envelopment Analysis, which aims to identify, based on secondary data, Minas Gerais municipalities whose beneficiary farmers have better performance in the use of the program resources, and (2) an online survey, which collected primary data along with Emater-MG agricultural technicians, which accompany economic, social and financial developments of family farmers in order to detect the results of Pronaf B on the well-being of the beneficiaries . The study, focused on the evaluation of public policies, was based on the theories of microfinances/microcredit. The results confirm the importance of a constant evaluation of the government actions results. Although the efficiency analysis indicate high efficiency of Minas Gerais municipalities in the Pronaf B resource use, there is evidence of improper resource allocation by the farmers themselves, who intended for purposes other than those of production. Moreover, even with the predominance of positive perceptions of the Emater-MG professionals regarding to Pronaf B and its results, the research identified some gaps in both farmers' access to finance (as the distance of financial agents and the delay in access to resources) , and in its application (mainly for not applying in productive activities, resulting in later default).
