The objective of this work was to analyze how gender and power relationships are lived and built in the Catholic Church in Soledade/MG by studying the dynamics of life of CPC (Conselho Pastoral Comunitário – Community Pastoral Council) leaderships. It was aimed to verify and to interpret specifically the implications of gender relationships in the lives of the study subjects – women experiencing leadership situations in a ‘holy’ space marked by prescription of what a woman-wife-mother is supposed to be. Paradoxically, the possibilities of access to the citizen construction are increasing in Soledade. This work aimed at discussing the theoretical framework of the analytical categories: gender and power in the Catholic pastoral religion field. This study was guided towards the perspective of qualitative methodology and ethnography methods, documental research, participating direct observation and narratives and DRP (Diagnóstico Rural Participativo – Participative Rural Diagnostic) were used for carrying out this study. Those methodological theoretical direction choices were built in the process of designing the study object in the space of Catholic Church pastorals and they were fundamental in the results analyses. The study of gender and power categories was found to be relevant for understanding the object studied. The study was developed in the first moment with 21 leaders integrating CPC, 14 men and 7 women. In the second moment, we elected 21 leaders out of this group: 3 women who presented information through their histories and life trajectories which contributed significantly for this work. Of the 21 first interviews, the three chosen ones stood out for their spontaneity in expressions and availability to participate in the study. The results of this work were presented in three articles: Article I: Base Ecclesial Communities and Pastorals in the Catholic Church. Article II: Life Trajectory with Leader Women of the Catholic Church Pastorals: The meaning of being woman in the pastoral space in Soledade. Article III: General Meeting as a Space for Dramatization of Power.
