Resumo: | This work presents a study of the mobility of atrazine and ametryn herbicides on red yellow latosoil during a period of 90 days. Percolating systems using soil leaching columns with 15 cm long were developed. Every ten days, a rain event was simulated on the percolating columns and atrazine and ametryn were quantified on three depths, 0 to 5, 5 to 10 and 10 to 15 cm and also in water which percolated the columns. For the herbicide quantification, the solid-liquid extraction technique with low temperature partition (SLE-LTP) was optimized and validated. The obtained extracts were analyzed by gas chromatography with flame ionization detection. It was observed that during the experiment, atrazine and ametryn were detected predominantly on the first soil layer. However, ametryn was detected on the second layer at concentrations inferior to 9 % of the applied amount, whereas atrazine presented concentrations superior to the limit of quantification up to 70 days of its application on this depth. On the third soil layer, atrazine was detected at 10, 20 and 30 days after its application, in amounts inferior to 3 % of the applied amount and ametryn was detected on concentrations inferior to 5 % up to 50 days, and reappeared 80 days after. In percolated water, atrazine and ametryn were detected within 6 and 9 % of the applied amount on 0 and 10th days of experiment. This amount was diminishing until 50th day of experiment. After this period, the amount of atrazine and ametryn in the percolated water was inferior to the limit of quantification and only on 90th day the ametryn was quantified in 1,6 % of the applied amount. It was observed that the triazines on studied were sensible to the photodegradation and ametryn presented higher stability than the atrazine, being more persistent on soil. So, it can be concluded that the two herbicides present potential mobility to reach underground water being more potential ametryn because it has more half life in the soil. |

So, it can be concluded that the two herbicides present potential mobility to reach underground water being more potential ametryn because it has more half life in the soil.
