The aim of this thesis was to analyze the production, storage and marketing processes of the corn producers who participate or not of collective group action in the cities of Patos de Minas and Presidente Olegario. To achieve this overall objective, it was necessary: to evaluate the transaction costs that impact the corn storage and marketing process; to determine a technical efficiency of production, logistics producers and the combination of these factors, to form clusters to identify similarities between the producers, to compare and analyze the results of previous parts, and to show the characteristics of producers and producer groups reference (benchmark). This research was quantitative and qualitative and it makes use of scientific methods: descriptive research and case study. The region where the research was made was the Alto Paranaíba, Minas Gerais, it was focus in group of corn producers, 2010/11 crop, from Patos de Minas, Patrocínio and President Olegário. Based on Agroindustrial Production Chain, the data collection first aimed to interview the institutions involved directly or indirectly in the corn production chain. It was used the sampling technique of the ball-of-snow. Through interviews it was possible to configure the products, services and information flows of the producer corn chain and to identify the main actors in this chain. In the second stage of data collection it used a survey, the producers for this survey were divided into three groups for comparison, which are: Group 1, consisting of producers that was organized in a cooperative to provide processing and storage grain. Group 2, consisting of producers who founded an association to promote research and technical support to agriculture. Group 3, formed with corn producers who do not participate in collective action groups. The sampling technique used in this part of research was for convenience. The survey processing was Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA), CCR model. It was also used multivariate analysis, cluster analysis. The study results indicated a low level of transaction costs for the Group 1, through the cooperative this producers expanded the availability of information; minimized the actions of warehouses and opportunistic buyers, reduced the participation of outsources in marketing, increased security of storage and marketing process for fulfilling the obligations assumed; reduced uncertainty related transactions by comparing the information market and minimized the risks associated with corn trading activity. To the analysis on the contract, it was verificated a simple formal contract and common of the process. It was concluded that the integration process collectively of the storage activity, reduce transaction costs and minimize some contractual problems. About the Technical Efficiency Analysis of Production, Logistics and combined, it was possible to observe the presence of Group 1 in the level of high-efficiency for the three analysis, while most of the producers of Group 3 were evaluated with low overall technical efficiency. For the cluster analysis, producers were grouped into three clusters, as follows: cluster 1 - Group 1 producers, cluster 2 - producers of the Group 2 and cluster 3 - Group 3 producers producing and P-7 of the Group 2. It was concluded that just participate of movements for collective action does not guarantee high technical efficiency. But, on the other hand, participated in an organized group to receive and store the grain, which favors the producer in the purchase of supplies and service, which supports the marketing and planning harvest process, is one of the more important ways to conquer good performance. It was also found that storage at the farm while reducing costs related to the process of grain storage, does not guarantee the overall technical efficiency of agribusiness.
