Resumo: | Two experiments were conducted, and the first was carried out to assess the effect of reduction of protein, using the ideal protein concept in diets for laying Japanese quail and the second aimed to determine the digestible threonine requirement for laying Japanese quail. The first experiment was used four hundred and eighty quails, during 84 days. A complete randomized experimental design was used with six treatments, eight replicates and ten quail per experimental unit. The experimental diets were isocaloric (2.900 kcal ME/kg) and consisted of six decreasing protein levels (22, 21, 20, 19, 18 and 17% CP). The following parameters were evaluated: feedintake (g/quail/day), protein intake (mg/quail/day), egg production (%), production of commercial eggs (%), egg weight (g), egg mass (g/quail/day), feed conversion (kg feed/kg egg), feed conversion (kg feed /egg dozen), weight gain (g), egg quality (yolk (g and %), albumen (g and %) and shell (g and %)), egg length and width (mm) and specific gravity (g/cm3), nitrogen excretion (%), relative weight of liver (g) and weight of abdominal fat (g). In conclusion that the level of crude protein for laying Japanese quail can be reduced (22 to 17% CP) without affecting the performance of the animals since diets are supplemented with limiting essential amino acids. The second experiment was used four hundred quails, during 63 days. A complete randomized experimental design was used with five treatments, eight replicates and ten quail per experimental unit. The basal diet was deficient in threonine, containing 17.8% of crude protein, 2.900 kcal of ME/kg and supplied with five levels of L-threonine 98% (0.000; 0.052; 0.104; 0.156 and 0.208%), corresponding of digestible threonine: digestible lysine ratio 0.65; 0.70; 0.75; 0.80 and 0.85, respectively to compose the experimental treatments. The following parameters were evaluated: feed intake (g/quail/day), threonine intake (mg/quail/day), egg production (%), production of commercial eggs (%), egg weight (g), egg mass (g/quail/day), feed conversion (kg feed/kg egg), feed conversion (kg feed /egg dozen), weight gain (g), egg quality ( yolk (g and %), albumen (g and %) and shell (g and %)) and specific gravity (g/cm3). It is ended that, the Japanese quail demand 0.55% of digestible threonine to provide the best productive performance and quality of eggs, for a daily consumption of 144.61 mg of digestible threonine/quail, corresponding to the digestible threonine: digestible lysine ratio of 0.55. |
