Resumo: | The present study aimed at evaluating the hydration habits and the sweat and urine electrolytic contents, as well as the runners and active individuals hydration state. The hydration habits were evaluated in 412 athletes, with an age average of 36,1±12,9, using a questionnaire. A group of 15 male runner athletes and another of 15 male active non-athletes individuals (25,3±2,4 and 23,1±4,3 years old, respectively), were recruited for the second part of this study. Both groups were invited to run for 80 minutes, with a 75-80 % intensity of the heart rate reserve, in an environment with 21,9±1,5 0C and 89,2±5,6% UR for the athletes and 21,8±1,6 0C and 93,2±3,5% UR for the active non-athletes, consuming 3mL of water/body weight kg at each 15 minutes. The body weight, specific urine gravity and hematocrit were monitored to evaluate the hydric loss. Subjective sensations were evaluated by appropriate tables. Sweat samples were collected on the chest, thorax and lumbar parts of the back at each 20 minutes of exercise for the Ca, Fe and Mg minerals evaluating through spectrophotometry of atomic absorption and K and N through the spectrophotometer in flames. The urine was also collected before and after the exercise to analyze the same minerals except iron. The results show that the liquid intake during the trainings was significantly smaller (p=0,0012) than in the competitions. Among the athletes, a low intake of hydroeletrolytic replacing was observed. The most outstanding dehydration signs were the intense thirst with a 24,76% of power loss sensation and 19,42% of cramps. During the experimental part, even with the intake of 3mL/ weight body kg, there was a dehydration of 2,15±0,7% among the athletes and 1,03±0,7% among the active individuals, with a body weight loss of respectively, 1,3±0,5 kg and 0,74±0,43kg. the urine specific gravity increased significantly between the situations of rest and after the exercise among the athletes. Now, the hematocrit increased significantly after the exercise compared to the rest only in the active individuals. The sodium loss in the sweat was significantly smaller in the athletes, in the three analyzed regions, and for potassium in the chest region, in the beginning of the activity. The Na tended to increase during the exercise, with K, Mg and Fe showing a tendency to dilute, and the calcium remained unaltered. The Na urine excretion was significantly greater for the active compared to the athletes for the 24 hours before the exercise. Based on these results, it is possible to conclude that there was an inadequacy in the hydration habits among the athletes. Under the exercise conditions, the hydric loss did not achieve critical levels and the mineral concentration in the sweat in the different regions and in the urine were not sufficiently elevated to promote an unbalance. |

O hábito de hidratação foi avaliado em 412 atletas, com média de idade de 36,1 ± 12,9 anos, utilizando questionário. Um grupo de 15 homens atletas corredores e outro de 15 homens ativos não atletas (25,3 ± 2,4 e 23,1 ± 4,3 anos de idade, respectivamente) foram recrutados para a segunda etapa deste estudo. Ambos os grupos foram convidados a correr por 80 minutos, com intensidade de 75 - 85% da freqüência cardíaca de reserva, em um ambiente com 21,9 + 1,5 °C e 89,2 ± 5,6% UR para os atletas e para os ativos o ambiente era de 21,8 ± 1,6°C e 93,2 ± 3,5% UR, ingerindo 3mL de água / kg de peso corporal a cada 15 minutos. Peso corporal, gravidade específica da urina e hematócrito foram monitorados para avaliar a perda hídrica. Sensações subjetivas foram avaliadas por tabelas apropriadas. Amostras de suor foram coletadas no peito, costas porção torácica e costas porção lombar a cada 20 minutos de exercício para análise dos minerais Ca, Fe e Mg por espectrofotometria de absorção atômica e K e Na por espectrofotômetro de chamas. Urina foi também coletada antes e após o exercício para análise dos mesmos minerais, exceto ferro. Os resultados apontam que a ingestão de líquido durante os treinamentos foi significativamente menor (p=0,0012) que nas competições. Foi observada entre os atletas uma baixa ingestão de repositores hidroeletrolíticos. Os sinais de desidratação mais destacados foram sede intensa com 24,76 %, sensação de perda de força com 20,39 % e cãimbra com 19,42 %. Durante a parte experimental, mesmo com a ingestão de 3mL de água / kg de peso corporal, ocorreu uma desidratação de 2,15 ± 0,7% entre os atletas e 1,03 ± 0,7% entre os indivíduos ativos, com uma perda de peso corporal respectivamente de 1,3 ± 0,5 kg e 0,74 ± 0,43 kg. A gravidade específica da urina aumentou significativamente entre as situações de repouso e após o exercício entre os atletas. Já o hematócrito aumentou significativamente após o exercício em comparação com o repouso apenas entre os ativos. A perda de sódio no suor foi significativamente menor nos atletas, nas três regiões analisadas, e para o potássio na região peito, no início da atividade. O Na tendeu a aumentar durante o exercício, com K, Mg e Fe mostrando tendência a diluir-se e o cálcio mantendo-se inalterado. A excreção urinária de Na foi significativamente maior para os ativos frente aos atletas para as 24 horas anteriores ao exercício. Baseado nestes resultados, é possível concluir que houve inadequação nos hábitos de hidratação entre os atletas.
