The objective of this study is to discuss conditions and aspects of the organization which lead to a performance management function in their various roles - with the backdrop of influences and constraints brought about by culture, strategy, by the exercise of power and organizational behavior. To this end, constructs were used as reference by conditioning the exercise of managerial roles: strategy, power, culture, and behavior. The study was conducted in a multinational industrial company. In the field research were conducted questionnaire with open questions with seven managers of that company in various regions of Brazil, like Rio de Janeiro, Distrito Federal, Goiás, Espírito Santo, Minas Gerais and São Paulo, using content analysis of these interviews to contextualize the presentation of data. From the data analysis, it was observed that the manager has to deal with many tasks and problems in their daily lives, involving activities related to the three dimensions and four managerial roles defined by Mintzberg, being: leader, monitor, and conflict solver administrator resources. Several aspects were verified as fundamental to the performance of the manager such as: adaptation between national culture and organizational decision making taking into account the competitive advantage, autonomy and control provided by the organization, leadership role for subordinates.
