Resumo: The present research approached the curricula from Paraná, adopted between 2003 and 2020, and the teaching of Geography for the final years of the elementary school (6º and 9º grades). For this, we seek to understand the historical, political and educational context of the “Diretrizes Curriculares Estaduais”, “Referencial Curricular do Paraná”: principles, rights and orientations from the “Currículo da Rede Estadual Paranaense”. We consider that the scholar curricula are social constructions and result of the hegemonic public policies. To understand the curriculum from these elements allowed us to cast the light over our goal: to apprehend the relationships between the contexts in which the curricula are produced and the conception of Geography presents in them. This research is justified by the needing of comprehension about the backstage of the curricula elaboration process since they are connected to political projects that influences directly the education. In this regard, to fulfill our goal, we use the work of the following authors and documents: Apple (1986), Brasil (2017), Callai (2018), Dourado & Oliveira (2018), Frigotto (2001, 2004), Gilioli, Oliveira & Pinheiro (2011), Goodson (2013), Libâneo (1984, 2000), Lopes & Macedo (2011), Macedo (2017, 2018), Mainardes (2006), Mello, (2014), Mirandola & Orso (2013), Oliveira (2003), Pacheco (2005), Paraná (2008, 2018, 2020), Sacristán (2000, 2011, 2013, 2017), Saviani (1984, 1998, 2008, 2013, 2019), Shiroma, Moraes & Evangelista (2002), Silva (2000, 2005), among others. Therefore, this is a bibliographic and documentary research that sought to understand the curricula from Paraná, the educational conceptions that underpinned them and their consequences for the Geography teaching in the final years of the elementary school. Thus, we verified the influence of the historical-political-economic context in the process of elaboration of the curricula and, consequently, in Geography teaching.

Isso porque entendemos que os currículos escolares são construções sociais e frutos das políticas educacionais hegemônicas. Compreender o currículo a partir desses elementos nos permitiu lançar luz sobre o nosso objetivo: apreender as relações entre os contextos em que são produzidos os currículos e a concepção de Geografia presentes neles. Justifica-se a pesquisa pela necessidade de compreensão dos bastidores dos processos de elaboração dos currículos, visto que esses estão conectados a projetos políticos que influenciam diretamente a educação.
