Resumo: The breeding of broiler chickens in Brazil stands out positively when it comes to economic improvement, adding the country in various sectors, improving the economy and generating new jobs. Brazil has become a world highlight in poultry farming, becoming a reference in chicken import and export. Over the years, studies and research have been improved in order to improve the technology of poultry breeding, among these studies was pointed out the importance of adequate lighting present in poultry houses always seeking the best welfare of the animal. The main objective of this study was to evaluate two lighting systems in broiler houses in the western region of the state of Paraná, one of them being conventional and the other dark house. Technical visits were made to the poultry houses and an architectural survey was carried out considering the current lighting systems. With the help of tools and software for diagramming plans and graphical representation of the houses, a new proposal was made for both houses aiming energy savings and the welfare of the bird. It was possible to identify the current lighting system and through calculations it was obtained relevant data about the current energy efficiency and at the end of the work it was possible to make more energy efficient proposals, generating more comfort and welfare for the birds than the current systems

O Brasil se tornou destaque mundial na avicultura, figurando como referência em importação e exportação de frango. No decorrer dos anos, estudos e pesquisas foram aprimorados visando à melhoria na tecnologia de criação das aves. Dentre esses estudos, foi apontada a importância da iluminação adequada presente nos galpões de criação buscando sempre o melhor bem-estar do animal. Este trabalho teve como objetivo principal avaliar dois sistemas de iluminação em aviários de corte na região Oeste do estado do Paraná, sendo um deles convencional e o outro Dark House. Visitas técnicas foram realizadas nos aviários e foi viabilizado um levantamento arquitetônico considerando os sistemas de iluminações atuais. Com auxílio de ferramentas e softwares para diagramação de plantas e representação gráfica dos aviários, foi realizada uma nova proposta para ambos os aviários visando à economia de energia e o bem-estar da ave. Foi possível identificar o sistema de iluminação atual e, por meio de cálculos, foram obtidos dados relevantes à eficiência energética atual.
