Resumo: The present work has as theme the language and the identity in Itaipulândia, a municipality located in the far west of the state of Paraná, which features a distinctive historical context, because its history of emancipation is directly linked to the construction of the Itaipu Hydroelectric Plant. Given this context, we seek to answer, with the survey, the following problematic: what were and / or are the implications of the construction of the Itaipu Hydroelectric Plant and the flooding in the constitution of the identities in the city of Itaipulândia? How are these identities revealed, through the language, through the subjects who experienced the process of expropriation for the sake of Itaipu and by the municipal administrations? In viewing of this problematic, our main objective is to investigate the implications of the construction of the Itaipu binational hydroelectric and the flooding in the constitution of language and the identity in the city of Itaipulândia starting from the life stories of the dispossessed and the official discourse of the municipal administrations after its political and administrative emancipation, until the present days. The criterion for selection of the informants was the fact that they had experienced the expropriation process with the formation of Itaipu Lake and to be currently residing in the city. To accomplish this work, we adopt a methodological course with an interdisciplinary approach basing us on the postulates of the Sociolinguistics and Education Studies, Social Sciences and History, focusing on the qualitative ethnographic research. We substantiated the discussions in theoretical contributions of Mendes (2002), Bamberg (2002), Mishler (2002), Moita Lopes (2002, 2003), Bauman (2005), Hall (2005), Bakhtin / Volochínov (2006), Silva (2011 ) and Woodward (2011). The analysis of the narratives of the informants and the official discourse of the municipality, revealed both processes that seek to essentialize the identities, as the multiple identities that emerge in the act of the narrativization of the subjects, showing contradictions and conflicts of identity. Under the implications of the construction of the Itaipu Hydroelectrical in the town of Itaipulândia and in the lives of the informants, converge antagonistic senses, revealed in their narratives, as well as the words that came to characterize the language of the city after the construction of Itaipu. The informants, to narrating their experiences prior to territorial dispossession, build for themselves and for the group an identity of farmer, settler, southern, to demarcate its relationship with the property. After the expropriation we evidenced, most clearly the identity conflicts experienced by the informants about their social identities of farmers, and their personal identities as man and a family father. Speaking of the relationship between the construction of Itaipu and the municipality of Itaipulândia, they play the "game of identities" (Hall, 2005), because sometimes they position themselves now from their identities of residents, and now of dispossessed. As for the official discourse, situated in the ideological and formal politic sphere, reference Itaipu as "the founding myth" of the city, building for themselves and for their people an identity frozen to the progressive spirit, concealing conflicts and contradictions.

Made available in DSpace on 2017-07-10T18:55:28Z (GMT).
