The entitled research Education and family: Challenges and confrontations in the current society have as objective to think, to reflect and to question the challenges of the familiar institution in modernity and after-modernity. Because of the nature of the study, the methodological support was the qualitative research, involving a field research, having as instrument the semi structuralized interview. Thirteen chosen families had been interviewed randomly, in the cities of President Prudente and Sandovalina, State of São Paulo, and Umuarama in the State of Paraná. The interview encloses the more significant questions that affects the families in its daily, as the current difficulties, mainly those that respects to children education. As result, it was evidenced that the families, in general form, are less structured, with great difficulties on children education, because of the conflicts of generations, loss of the moral, ethical, religious values, mass culture, lack of dialogue, constant influence of the mass media and changes on cultural identities in after-modernity. Ahead of this problematic, public and social politics are suggested for the families find institutional supports for its reorganization and re-education to create spaces for dialogue in its connivance, with the improvement parents and children relationship , searching more unit and understanding.
