Assembleia de Deus e a educação formal no Brasil : aspectos históricos, sociais e teológicos

Resumo: | The Assemblies of God constitute the largest denomination of the Brazilian Evangelicals. However, it is possible to note a certain lack in the academic work area regarding its history and development, in view of the institutional dimension and historical time of insertion in Brazilian lands. According to the above, this paper aims to describe objectively the process of insertion of the Assembly of God in Brazil and its non-involvement with education. To do so, we used three methodological approaches to this dissertation, to confirm the hypotheses previously raised in the project development, namely, from historical, social and theological aspects. We aim to make use of these pillars to describe the educational involvements related to ADs as a methodological form. With this, we use theoretical references from the fields of Sociology, Anthropology, History, as well as the Sciences of Religion. The work is of descriptive nature, making use of related works in the area from a qualitative analysis, considering that we have a specific group to be explored, as well as, we also work with quantitative research tools, to provide data and numbers that corroborate our understanding of our research object. It is well known that the greatest asset of an institution is people. Through the research, it was possible to note that the absence of the Assemblies of God in relation to formal education in Brazil was due to multiple factors, since it was not part of the agenda of this religious group the initial interest of investing in Brazilian educational practice in a direct way, so that it becomes unfeasible to attribute blame to its founders. In view of this, we consider that although the AD's have not achieved quantitative numbers expressive of formal education, or even qualitative, as it has been said about the historical Protestants, it is important to point out that the great mass that makes up the church, as the largest evangelical and Pentecostal church of Brazil, counts today with many professionals and university students of the most diverse forms, thus, this change of habitus stimulates us to reflect on the proposed theme. |

No entanto, é possível notar determinada carência na área de trabalhos acadêmicos a respeito de sua história e desenvolvimento, isso, diante da dimensão institucional e tempo histórico de inserção em terras brasileiras. Consoante o exposto, o presente trabalho pretende descrever de forma objetiva o processo de inserção da Assembleia de Deus no Brasil e seu não envolvimento com a educação. Para tanto, utilizamos três abordagens metodológicas de análise para esta dissertação, afim de confirmar as hipóteses levantadas anteriormente no desenvolvimento do projeto, a saber, a partir de aspectos históricos, sociais e teológicos. Temos como objetivo fazer uso destes pilares descrever os envolvimentos educacionais relacionados as AD’s como forma metodológica. Com isso, utilizamos de referenciais teóricos dos campos da Sociologia, Antropologia, História, bem como das Ciências da Religião. O trabalho se configura de natureza descritiva, fazendo uso de trabalhos relacionados na área a partir de uma análise qualitativa, tendo em vista que temos um grupo específico a ser explorado, bem como, procuramos trabalhar também com ferramentas da pesquisa quantitativa, afim de fornecermos dados e números que corroboram a compreensão acerca de nosso objeto de pesquisa. É sabido que o maior patrimônio de uma instituição são as pessoas. Através da pesquisa, foi possível notar que a ausência das Assembleias de Deus em relação a educação formal no Brasil se deu por conta de múltiplos fatores, uma vez que não fazia parte da agenda deste grupo religioso o interesse inicial de se investir na prática educativa brasileira de forma direta, de modo que se torna inviável atribuir culpa aos seus fundadores.
