This thesis has as its objective to investigate and analyze the discursive process structured in the narrative composition of the documentary "Bus 174" produced by filmmaker José Padilha. Despite the authenticity of idea to be rooted in its identity, the documentary is a copyright product linked to the way of thinking of its director. In this sense, the documentary genre could not show a reality and, yes, their representation. This representation of reality consists of values and concepts related to the view of the director who guides the viewer to certain perspectives. In the case of researched documentary, the orientation is toward violence, poverty and social exclusion that possibly led Sandro do Nascimento Rosa to the world of crime. Thus it is a configuration convincing arguments that predisposes the viewer to get a sense of what led to the episode of the kidnapping. Thus, for the construction of this narrative, the director made use of lines, drawn through statements and utterances, to compose a discursive construction composed of audiovisual discourses that acts as elements to the viewer's reflection. For the understanding of speech in the documentary it was used the theoretical basis of Discourse Analysis as a research tool to investigate the narrative construction and establish a scenario of discursive content set in the documentary Bus 174.
