A construção do ethos discursivo nos textos de São Bernardo de Claraval: uma apropriação vocacional

It is intended in this research based on methodological principles of Discourse Analysis French line according to some theorists in this area as Dominique Maingueneau; Patrick Charaudeau; Eni P. Orlandi, among others, examine the discursive construction of ethos in the writings of St. Bernard of Clairvaux, Cistercian monk who was born in the last decade of the 11th century and lived until the mid 12th century. The texts that make up the constitution of the corpus were taken from his sermons, letters and theological treatises. The analysis aims to clarify that awareness of the vocation of Abbot appropriates the subject-enunciator and is reflected in his writings. To do so, shall be considered the historical context of religious Middle Ages, during which the church exercised a strong influence on the formation and culture of medieval man, the scene of expository texts referred to, the place that the subject-enunciator assigns to himself in his speech , he constructs the image of himself in his speech and the construction of the ethos of credibility. As a result of the analysis it was realized that St. Bernard of Clairvaux built the ethos of a subject-enunciator enrolled in a Christian religious context, which sets out from a Christian ideological and discursive formation, in order to persuade her to seek God enunciatee and recognize themselves as sinners in need, creating in their statements the image of a subject-enunciator aware of its responsibility vocational abbot.
