Resumo: In the play Nória e Prometeu (2005), by the Portuguese playwright Nascimento Rosa, there are, characters like Prometheus, Noria, Adam and Eve and Science fiction´s elements which allow the question: who is this new Prometheus? How are the archaic elements reorganized in the contemporary speech? It is in the mythical recontextualization that this paper finds the playwright´s text. It compares the myths in order to demonstrate how they come close and/or they distance from the paradigms by examining the relationships between the self and the other in the play, in order to check how myth is reconstructed today. Its theoretical basis are the discoursive studies from Mikhail Bakhtin, specially in the works The popular culture in the Middle Ages and in the renascence (2008a) and Problems of Dostoevsky´s Poetics (2008b). We can conclude that Nascimento Rosa shows a theatrical text that amplifies, raises and lets down the signification of robbery of the fire and it creates a Prometheus that is not titan anymore, he is neither divine nor human.

Diante disso, busca-se responder: quem é esse novo Prometeu? Como se reorganizam os elementos arcaicos no discurso contemporâneo? Este trabalho investiga, com base na recontextualização mítica, como é construído o mito de Prometeu na dramaturgia de Nascimento Rosa. Para tanto, examina, comparativamente, os mitos nele presentes no intuito de demonstrar como se aproximam e/ ou se distanciam do paradigma de que se vale. Seu fundamento teórico reside nos estudos discursivos de Mikhail Bakhtin, principalmente nas obras A cultura popular na Idade Média e no Renascimento (2008a) e Problemas da poética de Dostoievski (2008b).
