Resumo: This present study of a qualitative nature has chosen as targets the identification and analysis of the aspects which affect the vulnerability to HIV/aids, based on three axes: individual, social, and pragmatic as seen through individual reports on everyday life of persons with intellectual disabilities, above 18 years old. Vulnerability can be considered as the opportunity of acquiring a disease as a result of a set of aspects that do not belong only to the individual sphere, but to the group as well and that has to be considered in the cultural context, which leads to a major or minor degree of susceptibility to contamination and to falling sick. The field research involved, at first, 14 young persons attended at two institutions specialized in persons with intellectual disability in the city of São Paulo, located at the North and South regions. From the initial group of 14 persons, who participated of a semi-structured initial interview, 8 were selected to participate of another stage of the research, which consisted of individual sessions where their testimonies were collected and recorded. Afterwards transcription of their speeches was done, so as to choose the foci of the analysis (information, affective core, autonomy/ independence and violence) and to lead to discussion of the collected data. The analysis of the chosen foci and their articulation were linked to the vulnerability axes above mentioned - individual, social, and pragmatic as they were considered the bases for this study. The testimonies revealed important vulnerability elements such as information level, sexual active life, affective relationships, gender related issues, and situations permeated by violence. The young persons with intellectual disability interviewed related everyday experiences quite similar to those experienced by persons of the same age without disability. Intellectual disability is shown as one of the vulnerability elements, but it is not a decisive factor. The identification of the vulnerability elements that are part of the everyday life of young persons with intellectual disability will bring contributions to proposals concerning Preventive Education actions directed to their universe.

Intellectual disability is shown as one of the vulnerability elements, but it is not a decisive factor. The identification of the vulnerability elements that are part of the everyday life of young persons with intellectual disability will bring contributions to proposals concerning Preventive Education actions directed to their universe.O presente estudo, de natureza qualitativa, teve como objetivo conhecer e analisar os aspectos que influenciam na vulnerabilidade ao HIV/aids, nos três eixos: individual, social e programático, de jovens com deficiência intelectual, acima de 18 anos, por intermédio de relatos individuais de suas vidas e cotidiano.
