This research aims at the documentation and the historiographic record of the "Mamulengo" Puppet Theater Project, presenting its trajectory since its beginning in 1978 in the Session of Special Sections of the Municipal Secretariat of Education of São Paulo until December 2016. In this research Documentary, the experiences with puppet theater in the municipal public schools, through the performances of entertainment theater shows and the teaching actions of the teachers participating in the training courses offered by the Municipal Department of Education of São Paulo, are articulated to the theoretical basis In Amaral (1991, 1995), Vygotsky (2000, 2014), Dewey (2010) Benjamin (2014), and Barbosa (2004, 2010). Analyzes reveal the breadth and significant marks of the Project's 38 years of existence and attest to the potency of the puppet theater language as a pathway of playful, creative, aesthetic and interdisciplinary experiences for students and educators. It recognizes the fascination and enchantment that puppetry plays in children and adults, leading to a reflection on how this language can be experienced in the school environment, in fostering cultural mediation, creative processes, interactivity and the production of Knowledge driven by an educational action established in a Secretariat of Education.
