Resumo: The experiments were conducted to evaluate the use of processed castor meal (FM) in diets of Japanese quail. Two experiments were conducted: the firstwas to determine the bromatological and the coefficients of metabolization of dry matter (CMMS), nitrogen (CMN) and gross energy (CMEB), as apparent metabolizable energy (EMA) and corrected for apparent nitrogen retention (EMAn) to four types of processing (FMB – recuperation of alcohol at 80°C for 20 minutes and drying at 80°C, FMD and FME - recuperation alcohol at 80°C for 6 minutes and still was neutralized with 5% NaOH and subjected to solar drying for two days (FMD) or pelletization (FME), FMF - recuperation of alcohol at 110°C for 15 minutes and drying 110°C. The treatment D provided the worst results for metabolization coefficients of dry matter (CMMS ), nitrogen (CMN) and gross energy (CMEB), and therefore to apparent metabolizable energy (EMA) and corrected for apparent nitrogen retention (EMAn), but the treatments B, E and F caused resulted in the best to the parameters. However, castor meal F was considered the most suitable, because has a greater simplicity in industrial processing and less toxic activity of ricin. Another experiment was conducted to evaluate which level best (0, 5, 10, 15 and 20%) of the castor meal processed – FMF (recuperation of ethanol at 110 ° C for 15 minutes and subsequent drying at 110°C) in diets of Japanese quail, during four periods of 28 days, to characterize the performance and egg quality. For the parameters of performance, variables such as feed intake, posture percentage, weight and egg mass, feed conversion per mass and dozen eggs showed a quadratic. For quality parameters eggs like specific gravity and egg shell thickness were not affected by treatments. However, the Haugh unit presented quadractly effect and and yolk color was linearly proportional to the levels of FM in diets. The shell weight per egg decreased quadratically and the percentage of shell showed a linear reduction. Levels of up to 10% of FM are recommended for inclusion in diets of laying quails.

Submitted by (edna.saturno@ufrpe.br) on 2017-05-16T12:54:50Z No. of bitstreams: 1 Priscila Antao dos Santos.pdf: 328604 bytes, checksum: 71190cab293f529d4ea16f81411d4391 (MD5)Made available in DSpace on 2017-05-16T12:54:50Z (GMT).
