Project management (PM) represents an important element in the development of management and competitiveness in private and public organizations. This management mechanism, to be properly applied, requires the use of methodologies, proper languages ​​and must be constantly evaluated. Thus, in the 1990s, the first PM maturity models emerged, with the aim of evaluating the quality with which this knowledge is applied and how they influence the success of developed projects. This dissertation aims to contribute to the development of the Maturity level in Project Management at the Universidade Federal Rural de Pernambuco (UFRPE). For this, the Prado-MMGP (2015) model of maturity assessment was applied in order to diagnose the university's level of maturity and develop a set of tools to institutionalize the improvement of the maturity level in management. of projects at UFRPE. The research is characterized as exploratory and descriptive and data collection took place through the application of an online questionnaire. The results measured with the application of the model indicate that the UFRPE presents adhesions that vary from “very weak” to “regular” for the levels of the model; “poor” to “regular” for model dimensions; and a final maturity assessment (AFM) of 2.59, defined by the model as “weak”. Despite these results, observable elements of each level and dimension of the Prado-MMGP (2015) can be seen in the university context, which qualify the institution's result as close to the national average calculated by Maturity Research, the organization that owns the model. As a result of the research, 3 technical products were proposed that aim to improve and respond to specific issues in the management of institutional projects at UFRPE: a Knowledge Booklet in Project Management, a Duration and a Draft Resolution of the Project Management Office Bylaws. The technical products produced aim to meet specific dimensions of the Prado-MMGP(2015) model, especially Competence in Project, Program and Portfolio Management, Methodology, Technical and Contextual Competence, Behavioral Competence and Organizational Structure.
