Resumo: The experiment was carried out at the fish farm of Itiúba - Development Company of the São Francisco and Parnaíba Valleys - CODEVASF, Porto Real do Colégio, Alagoas. The objective was to provide alternative, easily accessible food items during the raising of the Pseudoplatystoma corruscans, to promote the breeding of the species in the lower San Francisco region. The density was 0.3 fry / L, constant aeration, packed in 12 blue boxes of fiberglass, useful volume of 100 liters of water, covered with sombrite type screens. Four distinct food items were given in three replicates, four times a day (0: 00h, 6: 00h, 12: 00h, and 18: 00h), at the rate of 20% of the biomass. The treatments consisted of different alternative food items: 1- tambaqui larva colossoma macropomum (LT) (reference); 2 - frozen biomass of branchoneta Dendrocephalus brasillienses (BB); 3- live branchoneta (BV); 4-shredded fillet of tilapia oreochromis niloticus (FT). On the first day, the fingerlings showed length and average weight of 2.22 ± 0.08 cm and 0.073 ± 0.08 g, respectively. At the end of the experiment the best result was obtained with the treatment (BV) reaching 10.6 ± 0.08 cm and 9.2 ± 1.5 g with a final survival 94.4%, differing statistically (P <0, 05) of treatment (BB) 95.5% and statistically differing (p <0.05) of the treatments (LT) 98.8% and (FT) 100%. It is concluded that at this stage of P. curruscans, the food item that best corresponded to the growth in weight, length, and water quality was the branchoneta alive with a survival of 94.4%.

O objetivo foi fornecer itens alimentares alternativos, de fácil acesso, durante a alevinagem do surubim Pseudoplatystoma corruscans, visando fomentar a criação da espécie na região do baixo São Francisco. A densidade foi de 0,3 alevinos/L, aeração constante, acondicionados em 12 caixas azuis de fibra de vidro, volume útil de 100 litros de água, cobertos com telas tipo sombrite. Foram fornecidos quatro itens alimentares distintos em três repetições, quatro vezes ao dia (0:00h, 6:00h, 12:00h e 18:00h), na proporção de 20% da biomassa. Os tratamentos constaram de diferentes itens alimentares alternativos: 1- larva de tambaqui colossoma macropomum (LT) (referencia); 2- biomassa congelada de branchoneta Dendrocephalus brasillienses (BB); 3- branchoneta viva (BV); 4- filé triturado de tilápia oreochromis niloticus (FT). No primeiro dia, os alevinos apresentaram comprimento e peso médio de 2,22 ± 0,08 cm e 0,073 ± 0,08 g, respectivamente. Ao final do experimento o melhor resultado foi obtido com o tratamento (BV) alcançando 10,6 ± 0,08 cm e 9,2 ± 1,5 g com uma sobrevivência final 94,4%, na diferindo estatisticamente (P<0,05) do tratamento (BB) 95,5% e diferindo estatisticamente (p<0,05)dos tratamentos (LT) 98,8% e (FT) 100%.
