Resumo: This study aimed to evaluate the adaptability, determine an index of thermal comfort and its critical limits and carry bioclimatic zoning for Dorper sheep breed in the state of Pernambuco. The research was conducted in the municipality of Arcoverde, semiarid region of the state, during the period January to March 2011. Environmental data daily, recorded and stored in a data logger were collected. Were used twenty Dorper sheep males, intact, aged one year and eight months. The physiological variables registered every three days were: respiratory rate, rectal temperature, surface temperature of the veld, veld internal temperature and skin temperature. We used a completely randomized experimental design, with sub divided parcels, the time of day as the main parcel and the conditions of sun and shade as sub parcel and 20 animals repetitions. The time of day and the condition of sun or shade influenced the physiological responses of sheep. The morning shift in condition that sun and afternoon shift in both conditions resulted to the thermal stress animals. The comfort index values were as follows: BGHI 76,1, 93,5 and 82,5; TCI 31,2 46,5 and 40,5; CTR 556.7, 814.2 and 537.5, respectively. The THI was considered stressful in the afternoon (79.4) turn. Physiological variables were influenced by period and condition, the FR was above 100 mov / min in both shift and conditions. The RT was influenced by the period independent of the condition, with an average of 39.35 ° C in the morning and 39.69 ° C in the afternoon. Temperature of the surface and internal veld and epidermis, were influenced by period and environmental condition where the highest means were observed in the afternoon, the sun. The thermal comfort index determined DTIC = Ta x 0,46956 + Tgn x 0,47194 + vv x 0,19221 was highly correlated with the physiological variables RF, RT and EPT, and similar to other indexes such as THI, BGHI and TCI. Relying on rectal temperature estimated critical values for Dorper sheep were 74,7; 77,2; 34,4 e 26,2 for UTI, BGHI, tci and DTIC, respectively. Relying on respiratory rate estimated critical values for Dorper sheep were 72,8; 75,2; 31,6 e 24,0 or UTI, BGHI, TCI and DTIC, concomitantly. The conclusion is that Dorper sheep are sensitive to heat, the conditions of the semiarid Pernambucano, requiring mitigating measures to alleviate heat stress in order not to compromise the performance and productivity. For bioclimatic zonig, monthly averages of 246 points distributed throughout the state of Pernambuco meteorological data were used. THE variables considered were temperature (Ta, °C) and relative humidity (RH, %), used to calculate the temperature and humidity index (THI). The isolines have been drawn by SURFER 10.0. The ―Agreste‖ region of the state had the best climatic conditions for the creation of the Dorper breed throughout the year. During warmer months of the year and in the ―Sertão‖ region of Pernambuco the adoption of measures to mitigate the stress caused by heat, such as providing shade.

Submitted by Mario BC (mario@bc.ufrpe.br) on 2017-07-03T12:35:07Z No. of bitstreams: 1 Aline Medeiros de Paula Mendes.pdf: 5185394 bytes, checksum: fb3219a180b93a9ba961b0a750a3e2a2 (MD5)Made available in DSpace on 2017-07-03T12:35:07Z (GMT).
