The research had the objective of analyzing the impacts of rural social security on families living in Vale do Catimbau - Buíque - PE. In order to do so, the impacts of rural social security and its influence on the acquisition of durable and non-durable goods and services were verified. In addition, the influence of social security on the welfare of the beneficiaries was analyzed comparing the period before and after the receipt of the benefit. The literature review was based on social public policies, social security and rural social security, based on authors such as Biolchi and Schnaider (2003), Souza (2006), Secchi (2014), Behring & Boschitti (2008), Vianna (2002), And Delgado & Cardoso (2000), among others. The research is of the qualitativequantitative type and of exploratory and descriptive character. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 40 direct beneficiaries, based on an interview script. Thequalitative analysiswas based on content analysis. In a different manner, quantitative analysis data have underwent a statistical treatment of data in a descriptive way. The result of the research revealed that the consumption of durable goods was very significant. Given the measurement through the indicator of consumption of durable goods (ICDB), the purchase of furniture and electrical and electronic items was predominant. Regarding non-durable consumer goods, food was the most consumed. As for general services, those related to health care, such as exams and consultations, were the most used. Based on the data obtained, it was possible to present, in relation to the welfare, the conditions of survival of the beneficiary, in a comparative analysis before and after receiving the benefit, revealing a previous inconsiderate situation between bad and regular, passing after receiving the benefit analysis, revealing a positive influence of the benefits on the well-being of these elderly people. In general, the result of the research in question is that rural socialsecurity are of extreme relevance to rural populations throughout the country, especially those in the northeastern semi-arid region. And the impacts of receiving benefits on the lives of the elderly and their families represent a means of guaranteeing survival, as well as fostering the development of the community and region, since living conditions are precarious and even aggravated by the scarcity of income generation opportunities.
