Dissertation in History by UFRPE, in which he will address the Baluarte Porta da Terra, one of the cultural and archaeological heritage existing in Recife Antigo. A distinctly historic neighborhood, which has undergone several changes in its history, a neighborhood in which Recife was born and is frequently visited by locals and tourists. Within the context of heritage, this dissertation will relate two groups that constantly work in the Bairro do Recife Antigo: Archeologists and Architects. Using Serge Moscovici's Theories of Social Representations, this work will relate social issues, power relations, and the legitimacy of the existing heritage in Recife Antigo from the archaeologists and architects who worked in this neighborhood during the years 2001 to 2007, in the interventions in the Baluarte Porta da Terra. For this discussion, this project will use technical reports from the cited section that was produced by the two groups in question. The research argues that there is a power dispute, mainly of the architects under the archaeologists, however, through the analyzed reports, it was observed that there is not this relationship of power but of unity between architects and archaeologists in the interventions of the Bulwark and the construction of ideas how to turn it into a historical and archaeological heritage of the city of Recife.
