Resumo: This study aimed to analyze the effective application of democratic management in a Center for Early Childhood Education (CEI) in the city of S??o Paulo. Based on the premise that this management model is present in the current legislation and that through its implementation it is possible to guarantee an active participation of the community in the school environment, while knowledge and culture are offered to the population, especially to the population. low, it is considered necessary to evaluate the reality of democratic school management. For this verification, a qualitative exploratory research was carried out through a case study, in the years 2017 and 2018, the collection instrument was a questionnaire that led to the conclusion that there is still a long way to go so that democratic management exists correctly where all involved in decision-making, either on behalf of disinterested managers or teachers, because of lack of community participation, or simply lack of information. Although it was carried out in only one CEI, it was possible to experience the change of managers four times, allowing the analysis of different types of management.The school unit has School Council, Fiscal Council and Parents and Masters Association, the process of school is by public tender. The indicators suggest that the relationship between family, school and society remains distant. As for autonomy, its presence is limited, and even if there is a relationship with participation, the educational system remains rigid and centralizing.

Partiendo de la premisa de que este modelo de gesti??n est?? presente en la legislaci??n vigente y de que a trav??s de su ejecuci??n es posible garantizar una participaci??n activa de la comunidad en el ambiente escolar, al tiempo que el conocimiento y la cultura se ofrecen a la poblaci??n, de baja renta, se considera necesario evaluar la realidad de la gesti??n escolar democr??tica. Para esa verificaci??n, se realiz?? una investigaci??n exploratoria cualitativa a trav??s de un estudio de caso, el instrumento de recolecci??n fue un cuestionario que llev?? a la conclusi??n de que a??n existe un largo camino a ser trillado para que la gesti??n democr??tica exista de forma correcta donde todos los que participan efectivamente en las tomas de decisiones, sea por cuenta de gestores y docentes desinteresados, a causa de la falta de participaci??n de la comunidad, o por simple falta de informaci??n. A pesar de haber sido realizado en apenas un CEI, fue posible vivenciar el cambio de gestores cuatro veces, posibilitando el an??lisis de diferentes tipos de gesti??n. La unidad escolar posee Consejo de Escuela, Consejo Fiscal y Asociaci??n de Padres y Maestros, el proceso de elecci??n de la Direcci??n es por concurso p??blico. Los indicadores sugieren que la relaci??n entre familia, escuela y sociedad permanece distante. En cuanto a la autonom??a, su presencia se da de forma limitada y, aun habiendo relaci??n con la participaci??n el sistema educativo permanece r??gido y centralizador.O presente estudo teve como objetivo analisar a efetiva aplica????o da gest??o democr??tica em um Centro de Educa????o Infantil (CEI) da cidade de S??o Paulo.
