Resumo: This thesis focuses on the history of the Col??gio Comercial Visconde de Cairu, in the historical section from 1954 to 2002, which corresponds to its period of operation. Established in the city of S??o Paulo, in the district of Belenzinho, this educational institution has undergone several phases of the Brazilian educational history, and a series of legislative changes, being its trajectory remarkable in the evolutionary process of commercial education in Brazil. Transitions of nomenclature of the courses, since commercial secondary education to high school technical education, synthesize the period of greater development of vocational training for tertiary education, and the history of the institution presented here illustrates these changes and their influence on Brazilian middle-level education up to the present days. This study also provides a brief account of the general history of commercial education in Brazil and the main legislative interventions that took place, and draws parallels between the development of this segment of education and the concepts of Escola Nova, epistemology of Jean Piaget, and guidelines drawn by International Labor Organization for vocational education. The trajectories of leaders, teachers and students who participated actively in the history of this school institution - in various periods within the proposed historical section - also integrate this work, which proposes to study the whole from particularities with a referential approach of the Marxist investigative dialectic.

En el barrio de Belenzinho, establecida en la ciudad de S??o Paulo, esta instituci??n educativa atraves?? diversas fases de la historia educativa brasile??a, y una serie de cambios legislativos, siendo su trayectoria marcada en el proceso evolutivo de la ense??anza comercial en Brasil. Las transiciones de la ense??anza secundaria comercial para ense??anza profesional de nivel medio, y despu??s ense??anza t??cnica profesionalizante de 2?? grado hasta la denominaci??n de ense??anza media t??cnica, sintetizan el per??odo de mayor desarrollo de la ense??anza profesional de formaci??n para el ??rea terciaria, y la historia de la instituci??n que se presenta aqu?? ilustra estos cambios y su influencia en la educaci??n brasile??a de nivel medio hasta los d??as actuales. Este estudio trae, adem??s, un breve relato de la historia general de la ense??anza comercial en Brasil y las principales intervenciones legislativas ocurridas, y traza paralelos entre el desarrollo de este segmento de ense??anza y los conceptos de Escuela Nueva, epistemolog??a de Jean Piaget, y directrices trazadas por la Organizaci??n Internacional del Trabajo para la educaci??n profesional. Las trayectorias de dirigentes, docentes y discentes que participaron activamente en la historia de esta instituci??n escolar, en diversos per??odos dentro del recorte hist??rico propuesto, tambi??n integran este trabajo, que se propone al estudio del todo a partir de particularidades con enfoque referencial de la dial??ctica marxista investigativa.A presente tese tem como tem??tica central a hist??ria da institui????o escolar Col??gio Comercial Visconde de Cairu, no recorte hist??rico de 1954 a 2002, que corresponde ao seu per??odo de funcionamento. Estabelecida na cidade de S??o Paulo, no bairro do Belenzinho, esta institui????o educacional perpassou diversas fases da hist??ria educacional brasileira e uma s??rie de mudan??as legislativas, sendo sua trajet??ria marcante no processo evolutivo do ensino comercial no Brasil.
