Accounted as an irrevocable clause in the Brazilian legal system, the fair access to justice is fundamental for the social welfare’s development and maintenance. In this regard, throughout Vargas’s government, even having passed for fragile phases throughout the history, Brazil developed extrajudicial assistance methods for its citizens. Nowadays, the Defensoria Pública do Estado (State’s Public Advocate) role deserves to be highlighted, which, independently, performs extrajudicial mediations and hearings, contributing for the universalized access to justice and celerity in the conflict’s resolution. Given the Defensoria’s acting relevance, this research intends to explore the extrajudicial mediations and hearings performed at Campina Grande’s nucleus, leading to the reflection about the legal, social and economic impacts for the city. This is a field research, with theoretical and exploratory character and quantitative and qualitative nature, developed on the referred nucleus’ dependencies. The data gathering happened through the observation and document analysis of hearings performed throughout the three months period (June 2nd, 2022, to August 2nd, 2022), also, through bibliographic research. It was established as variables, the deal’s closure, case’s nature, and mediation resolved case’s profile. The results shows the occurrence of 126 hearings, prevailing the ones from Family Law, primarily, fixation and execution of child support; mostly, resulting in term of agreement.
