This work is an analysis-interpretation of five texts of the dramatist Maria de Lourdes Nunes Ramalho: Guiomar sem rir sem chorar (1982), Guiomar filha da mãe (2003), A mulher da viração (1983), Uma mulher dama (1979) and Anáguas (c. 1989). Therefore, we discuss the female protagonists of these texts, in the scope of the literary representation, in act on their own belonging spaces, which are a local/regional space, for problematize it and change it. Our intent is to interpret an relevant themed aspect about this dramatist’s work’s discussion as we consider it representative, for the analysis, referring to the point of women’s professionalization in the capitalist system, emphasizing the teacher’s profession and examining the relationship that catches with this professional activity, as we can see in the discourse expressed in the scope of dialog, element that is the basis of this aesthetic form. Thus, this discussion turns to the understanding of how this dramatist’s work can be read from the debate of regionalism as a tendency of the Brazilian literature and from its relationship with that tendency, emphasizing the expression, in the analyzed texts, of the dynamics that involve gender and sexuality issues, exposed, many times, as simple “schematic certainties”, and other times as rupture with stabilized standards. Thus, our intent is to point how, in these texts, we have an equalization with the debate around the modern/contemporary dramaturgy in which, for the representation of the themes expressed in the plays, the relationship between form and content is problematized, which, in this work, points to the aesthetic way of the regionality’s representation, in their traditional and contemporary features, which touch the reflections about the dramatic form and its narratives potential.
