The theme of this study is the waste management in large events of show business, as shows, considering that this and other environmental best practices should be showed to the public by using all the media available - using them as instruments of environmental education. This dissertation has as a goal the analyse of the waste management in an important show arena of Rio de Janeiro. To achieve this goal, it was used the following methodological steps: a bibliography research in the areas of solid waste management, environmental education, marketing, advertising and corporate social and environmental responsibility and a case study to measure (by quality and quantity) the waste produced in the show arena. The relevancy of this study is in the unexplored opportunity of implement and promote social and environmental best practices in music shows - an important role to the environmental education and marketing for a company, by using the power that the medias have in the society's conduct and judgment. This study concludes that the show arena has a great potential on implementing the waste management - 84% of its waste is recyclable - free from the organic contamination. This could be an important material font for the scavengers and it meets the legal principles of the waste management. The company could also practice an important role as an opinion leader, contributing to a whole new generation of active citizens. Besides that, it will be an important font to the show business market.
