Mobilidade nas Universidades Federais brasileiras: perspectivas para implantação da mobilidade sustentável na UFMA

Given the various environmental impacts generated by the massive effects of human activities, it is fundamental and essential to constantly seek sustainable practices for the preservation of the environment, as well as for to mitigate these effects. Since the sustainable mobility is a theme that contributes strongly to the achievement of sustainability, as well as to the intrinsic and essential role that universities have in the formation of citizens for society, a study was done about sustainable mobility and accessibility using the Institutional Development Plans of the 63 Brazilian Federal Universities. Two questionnaires were applied, one of them being send for the top management of the Universities that have sustainable mobility management, and the other one directed to the academic community of the campus of the Federal University of Maranhão of São Luís. The aim this method, was to diagnose the current UFMA scenario regarding sustainable mobility and accessibility. It was observed that of these 63 universities, only twelve of them addressed the issue of sustainable mobility in some way in their IDP's, demonstrating that sustainable mobility and accessibility is still a little present in this document of the Universities. Although their analysis was not representative, in the questionnaire developed for the Universities were obtained the same conclusions found in the documentary study. In the questionnaire applied to the academic community of UFMA, it was verified that the elements of mobility and accessibility existing in UFMA are unsatisfactory level, possibly due to the lack of awareness of managers and the academic community related to this theme. The results indicated that more effective planning actions are required for the management of sustainable mobility and accessibility, both in UFMA and in other Brazilian universities.
