Resumo: | It is known that swimming is a type of exercise that promotes beneficial adaptations to the cardiovascular and skeletal muscle systems and that exhaustive and irregular physical exercise can induce muscular injuries. The cells, under some conditions of stress, synthesize significant amounts of Heat Shock Proteins or HSPs. Some HSPs act as chaperones, while others have cytoprotective and anti-apoptotic functions. One of the possible effects of the physical training is the increase in the expression of HSP 70, which can inhibit apoptosis. In this work the effect of swimming and the exhaustive exercise on the expression of HSP 70 and the histologycal structure of the myocardium, soleus (SO) and rectus femoris (RF) muscles of trained and sedentary Wistar rats have been evaluated. Twenty-nine Wistar rats, all adults, were used with initial average weight of 376g. The animals had been separated in four groups: CS: sedentary control without treatment (n=8); SE: sedentary followed by exhaustive test (n=7); TN: 17 weeks of swimming (n=7); TNE: 17 weeks of swimming followed by exhaustive test (n=7). The animals of 5 groups TN and TNE had swum 90 min/day, five days/week, for 17 weeks. The results indicate that swimming training promoted cellular adaptations with occurrence of microinjuries in muscular fibres, increase of the vascularization and reduction of the blood lactate levels in relation to the sedentary animals. These alterations were more intense after the exhaustion, suggesting that the exhaustive exercise can represent an aggressive agent. However, significant alterations relating to the occurrence of apoptosis, hypertrophy and increase in the HSP-70 expression were not been identified. |
