Trajetórias, práticas familiares e representações sociais de funcionários da UFV: a escola e o núcleo de educação de adultos

Resumo: The purpose of this study was to understand the social representations of students, who are officials at the Federal University of Viçosa (UFV, in Portuguese), about school and the Center for Adult Education (NEAD, in Portuguese), as guidelines of conduct that provide clues about the prolonged stay of these students at the Center and the relation of these representations to the experiences of schooling and familiar educational practices lived by them. The study was developed as a qualitative research. Following this perspective, to characterize the profile of NEAD students, we applied a questionnaire to 81 of the students. As next step, we delimited for the study a sample of the students who were UFV employees, came from rural areas and had at least four years of formal schooling prior to insertion in NEAD. Once defined the study sample, with nine subjects, we started the data collection phase, using the technical procedures of semi-structured interview. The data were analyzed using the procedures of content analysis. The results showed that the representation on the school, in all the interpretations constructed by the learners, presents a diversity of ideas, values and opinions. Their representations connect the school to ideas of learning , teaching and education . NEAD is represented as an opportunity to study , qualification and a cozy place . The students surveyed had little or no opportunity in childhood and adolescence to attend school, so they see the return to school as a chance to overcome theirs limits. This fact has demonstrated great influence in their social representations about the school and NEAD. And even with a history marked by interruptions in their schooling, these individuals aspire their children can have a long school career which may lead them to a good job. So they have tried (or are trying) to, as much as they can, offer several familiar educational practices in order to achieve their intended goals.

So they have tried (or are trying) to, as much as they can, offer several familiar educational practices in order to achieve their intended goals.O objetivo deste trabalho foi compreender as Representações Sociais dos educandos, funcionários da Universidade Federal de Viçosa (UFV), sobre a escola e o Núcleo de Educação de Adultos (NEAd), enquanto orientadoras de conduta que oferecem indícios sobre a permanência prolongada desses educandos no Núcleo e a relação dessas representações com as experiências de escolarização e as práticas educativas familiares vivenciadas por eles. A investigação desenvolvida constituiu-se numa pesquisa qualitativa. Seguindo essa perspectiva, com objetivo de caracterização do perfil dos educandos do NEAd, aplicamos um questionário a 81 educandos. Em seguida,delimitamos para amostra do estudo aqueles que eram funcionários da UFV, originários do meio rural e com, no mínimo, quatro anos de escolarização formal anterior à inserção no NEAd. Definida a amostra do estudo, com nove sujeitos, iniciamos a etapa de coleta de dados, utilizando os procedimentos técnicos da entrevista semi-estruturada. Os dados obtidos foram analisados utilizando os procedimentos da análise de conteúdo. Os resultados apontaram que a representação sobre a escola, no conjunto das interpretações construídas pelos educandos, apresenta uma diversidade de ideias, valores e opiniões. São representações que vinculam a escola às ideias de aprendizado , de ensino e de educação . O NEAd, por sua vez, é representado como sendo oportunidade de estudo , qualificação e lugar acolhedor . Os educandos pesquisados tiveram pouca ou nenhuma oportunidade na infância e na adolescência para frequentarem a escola; portanto, enxergam no retorno à escolarização a forte ideia de superação. Esse fato demonstrou ter grande influência em suas representações sociais sobre a escola e o NEAd. E mesmo tendo sua história marcada pelas interrupções no processo de escolarização, esses sujeitos almejam para seus filhos uma longa carreira escolar, tendo em vista a aquisição de um bom emprego para os filhos.
