The osteoporosis is disease debility, very common, that turns the fragile and prone bones to you fracture. It provokes pain, loss of the movements, difficulties to execute the tasks of the day by day and in many cases until the death. It is characterized by bony fragility, with decrease of the bony mass and deterioration of the microarchitecture of the skeleton, taking the one accentuated bony loss and to a consequent increase of the susceptibility to you fracture. Now he/she is considered the osteoporosis as one of the largest and more preoccupying problems of health of the world that reaches men and women. This work has as objective verifies alterations current histological and histomorphometrical of the osteopenia caused by the castration, of the corticoids administration and of the association of the two treatments they are suitable with the alterations verified in the osteoporosis. For accomplishment of the experiment 80 adult female rats were used. The animals were divided in four groups with 20 female rats in each: group I - control; group II - castrated; group III - glucocorticoid group IV -castrated with glucocorticoid therapy. The collections were accomplished in all the groups to the 14, 28, 42 and 56 days after the beginning of the administration of the glucocorticoid, concluded that the model in which is used the association of castration with administration of glucocorticoids in rats induces similar changes with the described ones in osteoporosis.
