Resumo: The objective of this study was to evaluate the nutritional value of different grains as an exclusive food in the diet of goats and sheep from the determination of nutrient intake and digestibility (test I), ingestive behavior (test II) and palatability index (test III). In tests I and II were used five goats and five sheep, distributed in 5x5 double Latin square. The treatments consisted of small palm + urea + sugarcane bagasse (MUB), Mexican elephant ear palm + urea + sugarcane bagasse (OUB), Tifton hay hay (FCT), corn silage ( SM) and sorghum silage (SS). In assay III, six females of each species were used and three tests were performed to determine the Palatability Index (PI): test 1 - SM versus MUB; test 2 - SM versus OUB; test 3 - MUB versus OUB. The dry matter (DM) and crude protein (CP) intakes for MUB were higher than SS (0.620 and 0.058 versus 0.416 and 0.040 kg / day). Metabolizable energy (ME) intake was higher for MUB (1.52 Mcal / day). The DM digestibility did not vary among the different bulks tested (59%). The digestibility of MO for MUB, OUB and SM (62.4%) was higher than SS (57.4%). The time ingestion was higher for SS (291 min / day) and the time in rumination was higher for FCT, SM and SS (565 min / day). The IPs observed for the bulky MUB and OUB were 76% and 77% (tests 1 and 2) and 93% for MUB (test 3). Goats reject more MUB and OUB than sheep. The voluminous forage palm associated with urea + sugarcane bagasse presents nutritional value similar to corn silage and Tifton hay and is superior to sorghum silage.

The voluminous forage palm associated with urea + sugarcane bagasse presents nutritional value similar to corn silage and Tifton hay and is superior to sorghum silage. Submitted by Mario BC (mario@bc.ufrpe.br) on 2019-06-26T15:11:18Z No. of bitstreams: 1 Thamires Damascena Quirino Siqueira.pdf: 449956 bytes, checksum: 5ca1d4d48c4c9ab57df43c2e986328d1 (MD5)Made available in DSpace on 2019-06-26T15:11:18Z (GMT). description The objective of this study was to evaluate the nutritional value of different grains as an exclusive food in the diet of goats and sheep from the determination of nutrient intake and digestibility (test I), ingestive behavior (test II) and palatability index (test III).
