Resumo: It was evaluated the intake and digestibility of nutrients, milk yield and composition, and ingestive behavior of five lactating goats used in a 5x5 Latin square experiment, fed sugarcane and urea in replacement tifton hay, according with levels 0, 25, 50, 75 and 100%. The diets with higher levels of sugarcane had greater lignin concentration, resulting linear decrease in apparent digestibility of DM and consequent increase of rumination, adversely affecting the intake and the milk yield. However, due to the significant amount of soluble carbohydrates in the diet, feed efficiency increased linearly. The use of sugarcane for goats average of the high of milk yield can compromise the performance of these animals, but is an alternative food for strategic critical periods

As dietas com maiores níveis de cana-deaçúcar apresentaram maior concentração de lignina, provocando diminuição linear na digestibilidade aparente da MS e conseqüente aumento de ruminação, afetando negativamente o consumo e a produção de leite. Entretanto, devido à expressiva quantidade de carboidratos solúveis na dieta, a eficiência alimentar aumentou linearmente.
