Enunciação e memória em crônicas de Milton Hatoum. Uma leitura semiótica

This dissertation aims to analyze the relationships between enunciation and memory in chronicles by Milton Hatoum, using the French semiotics framework. The corpus of this work is composed of three chronicles, published by the author in renowned newspapers and magazines, as of 2003, which were rewritten for the book Um solitário à espreita (2013). The titles of these texts are "Flores secas do cerrado”, “Um ilustre refugiado político” and "Exílio”. We applied the theoretical assumptions of French semiotics, especially the Jacques Fontanille’s study (2015) on the three rationalities that, according to this French semiotician, are used to organize our experience in discourse: the rationalities of action, of passion and of cognition. We have observed the relationships that are established in the chronicles between the present time in which, through memory, the narrator reflects on past facts, specifically the ones that took place during the military dictatorship in Brazil, and in what ways these past facts impact the present of enunciated enunciation, based on the concepts of happening-memory and happened-memory, systematized by Barros (2011). The analysis revealed strategies used by the enunciator in the construction of the texts, approached on its narrative, enunciative, passional, and tensive dimensions in which the narrator recreates facts related to the historical past of Brazil, which are esthetically recreated, making the chronicles similar to literary short stories. Our research aims at contributing to the reflections on the relationships between the memory of historical happenings and its esthetic reconstruction in the instance of enunciated enunciation.
