This dissertation investigates the imagery of the end of the world in the science fiction series The Umbrella Academy. The research analyzes how the series uses elements of Science fiction to create a narrative that dialogues with the anxieties of contemporary society and with the fears and hopes of humanity in the face of the end. The research problem is how the imagery is present in the complexity of constituting the structure of serial audiovisual narratives? So that our main objective is to understand the presence of the imagery of the end of the world in the structure of serial audiovisual narratives. The analysis proposed in this research is based on theoretical foundations from authors such as Altman (1999), Andrew (1984), Didi-Huberman (2023), Jost (2012), Todorov (2012 and 1979), Carrión (2011), Durand (2012) and Silva (2003). It highlights the importance of imagery in the construction of audiovisual narratives and how the series The Umbrella Academy uses time travel, the impending apocalypse and the myth of the origin of life to explore themes such as identity, free will and the search for a new beginning.
