O docente de história tem nos arquivos um espaço colaborativo e motivacional para a pesquisa histórica e o ensino do uso das fontes documentais. A pesquisa discorre sobre as origens e evolução dos preceitos da ciência diplomática em sua perspectiva clássica e contemporânea ; e seu aporte para os fundamentos da metodologia de identificação arquivística, que faz uma pesquisa intelectual sobre a gênese documental, ancorando se nos princípios e ensinamentos da didática da história. Esse conhecimento adquirido culmina no letramento informacional histórico e arquivístico de alunos e professores. O letramento ao ser aplicado nas atividades descritivas a s tornam referência instrumental e metodológica com instrumentos de pesquisa estruturados e contextualizados. Os alunos e professores de história ao entrarem em contato com os produtos descritivos precisam valer se de sua própria consciência histórica, dos ensinamentos transmitidos por seus professores, e de suas competência s informacionais, o que torna esta atividade desafiadora e instigante. Afinal, em um instrumento de pesquisa consulta se muitos documentos e, neste ponto a pesquisa torna se uma atividade fascinante. Como resultado desse estudo, será produzida uma cartilha para docentes da Educação básica e superior que apresentará a descrição e a identificação arquivísticas como metodologia para um ensino e aprendizagem significativos da história.The present research is configured in a bibliographic, theoretical and reflective study about the use of archival documentary description as an instrumental strategy and methodology serving to su pport and stimulate th e studies of students of the history discipline. History teachers in their classroom or on site visits have in the archives a collaborative and motivational space for historical research and teaching the use of documentary sources. Th e research discusses t he origins and evolution of the precepts of diplomatic science in its classic and contemporary perspective and its contribution to the foundations of the methodology of archival identification, which does an intellectual research on t he documentary genesis , anchoring itself in the principles and teachings of the didactics of history that theorize about historical consciousness and its applications in the real understanding of historical teaching. This acquired knowledge culminates in t he historical and arch ival information literacy of students and teachers. Literacy, when applied to descriptive activities, makes it an instrumental and methodological reference with structured and contextualized research instruments. When students and tea chers of history come into contact with descriptive products, they need to draw on their own historical awareness, the teachings passed by their teachers, and their information skills, which makes this activity challenging and thought provoking. After all, in a research instrum ent many documents are consulted and, at this point, research becomes a fascinating activity.
