Resumo: This research on the educational practice: challenges and possibilities of contextualized geography teaching in high schools of the semi-arid backlands of northeastern Brazil is born of the researcher concerns in teaching in high school, Technical, Technology and Higher and grows to provide training courses continued to basic education teachers in the municipalities researched context, complex and paradoxical realities. Aims to raise and analyze data on the educational practices and conceptions of teachers, technical and pedagogical staff and/or managers and students about esnino the curricular component Geography in semi-arid region of schools, emphasizing the importance of reflections on the school curriculum and analyzes apectos of initial and continuing teacher training, questioning whether these contribute to their reflective and critical condition, preparing them to explore the regional geographic space as didactic and pedagogical resource in the construction of their travel plans and contextualized teaching with this reality for answers Obre as has been prepared and worked the curriculum in public schools in the context of research. The methodology used is qualitative nature, with some figures, and theoretical and bibliographical, documentary and descriptive nature, related to the sample universe, selected by intentionality and accessibility, consisting of six public schools in the municipalities of Petrolina, Pernambuco and Juazeiro-Bahia with semistructured interviews with six managers of the technical-pedagogical staff, seven professors of geography and on questionnaires to four hundred and fourteen students of the 3rd year of high school. The compilation and processing of the data is based on the three stages of content analysis, and research findings indicate the need to reform the teaching of curricular component Geography for Secondary Education, contextualizing it to the reality of the Brazilian semi-arid context and show the need for adequate investment to redesign the continuing education procedures for Geography teachers, favoring the prospects of paradigmatic changes in teaching methods and learning used in schools in the area surveyed, aiming to implement an education and teaching of Geography Contextualize.

Objetiva levantar e analisar dados sobre as práticas educativas e as concepções dos professores, equipe técnico-pedagógica e/ou gestores e alunos sobre o ensino da componente curricular Geografia em escolas da região do semiárido, enfatizando a relevância de reflexões sobre o currículo escolar e analisa aspectos da formação inicial e contínua dos professores, questionando se essas contribuem para sua condição reflexiva e crítica, preparando-os para explorar o espaço geográfico regional como recurso didático-pedagógico na construção de seus planos de curso e de ensino contextualizados com essa realidade buscando respostas obre como vem sendo elaborado e trabalhado o currículo escolar nas escolas públicas no contexto da pesquisa. A metodologia utilizada é de cunho qualitativo, com alguns dados quantificados, sendo de cunho teórico-bibliográfico, documental e descritiva, relacionada ao universo amostral, selecionado por intencionalidade e acessibilidade, constituído por seis escolas públicas dos municípios de Petrolina-Pernambuco e Juazeiro/Bahia, com entrevistas semiestruturadas realizadas com seis gestores da equipe técnico-pedagógica, sete professores de Geografia e sobre os questionários aplicados com quatrocentos e quatorze alunos do 3º ano do Ensino Médio. A compilação e o tratamento dos dados se fundamenta nas três fases da análise de conteúdo, sendo que os achados da pesquisa sinalizam a necessidade de reformulação no ensino da componente curricular Geografia para o Ensino Médio, contextualizando-a à realidade do contexto semiárido brasileiro e evidenciam a necessidade de investimentos adequados à reformulação nos procedimentos de formação continuada para os professores de Geografia, favorecendo as perspectivas de mudanças paradigmáticas das metodologias de ensino e aprendizagem utilizadas nas escolas da região pesquisada, visando aplicar uma educação e um ensino da Geografia Contextualizada.Esta investigación sobre Práctica educativa: desafíos y posibilidades de la enseñanza de la geografía contextualizada en las escuelas secundarias del Semiárido Sertão del Nordeste brasileño nace de las preocupaciones del investigador en la enseñanza de la enseñanza media, técnica, tecnológica y superior y crece al impartir cursos de formación continua. para docentes de educación básica en municipios del contexto investigado, con realidades complejas y paradójicas. Tiene como objetivo recopilar y analizar datos sobre las prácticas educativas y las concepciones de docentes, técnicos-pedagógicos y/o directivos y estudiantes sobre la enseñanza del componente curricular Geografía en escuelas de la región semiárida, enfatizando la pertinencia de reflexiones sobre la currículo escolar y analiza aspectos de la formación inicial y continua de los docentes, cuestionando si estos contribuyen a su condición reflexiva y crítica, preparándolos para explorar el espacio geográfico regional como recurso didáctico-pedagógico en la construcción de sus planes de curso y de enseñanza contextualizados con este realidad buscando respuestas acerca de cómo se ha elaborado y trabajado el currículo escolar en las escuelas públicas en el contexto de la investigación. La metodología utilizada es de carácter cualitativo, con algunos datos cuantificados, siendo de carácter teórico-bibliográfico, documental y descriptivo, relacionados con el universo muestral, seleccionado por intencionalidad y accesibilidad, constituido por seis escuelas públicas de los municipios de Petrolina-Pernambuco y Juazeiro/Bahia, con entrevistas semiestructuradas realizadas a seis directivos del equipo técnico-pedagógico, siete profesores de Geografía y sobre los cuestionarios aplicados a cuatrocientos catorce alumnos del 3º año de Enseñanza Media.
