Resumo: The Geographical indication is a means of protection granted by the state for a region or territory, this protection aims at the recognition and exclusivity for the production of a product or provision of a service, which gives them their own reputation and identity. This work aims to subsidize the request for a Geographical Indication for the Associação das Louceiras do Maruanum - ALOMA. In view of the entire framework of scientific research on the subject, both in relation to the dishes of Maruanum and in relation to Geographical Indications, the synthesis and unification for the purpose of petitioning and subsequent granting of the GI was sought here. Thus, the research starts from a qualitative approach, with an exploratory descriptive objective, since it is based on bibliographic and documentary research, on historical, social and technical aspects, being structured by IN nº 95/2018 of the National Institute of Industrial Property - INPI. In the end, it is expected that all the prerogatives defined in IN nº 95 will be elaborated and the Associação das Louceiras do Maruanum - ALOMA will have all the documents to petition the GI request with the INPI.

Tendo em vista todo arcabouço de pesquisas científicas sobre o tema, tanto com relação às louceiras do Maruanum quanto em relação às Indicações Geográficas, buscou-se aqui, a sintetização e unificação para o objetivo do peticionamento e posterior concessão da IG. Assim, a pesquisa parte de uma abordagem qualitativa, com objetivo descritivo exploratório, uma vez que se pauta na pesquisa bibliográfica e documental, sobre aspectos históricos, sociais e técnicos, sendo estruturado pela IN nº 95/2018 do Instituto Nacional de Propriedade Industrial - INPI.
