Family farming is an important economic and social segment for Brazilian development. Currently, there are 4.4 million farm families, representing 84% of the rural establishments in the country. Of this type of production, 38% of the gross value of agricultural production and 50% of the food of the basic basket derive from 7 to 10 out of 10 jobs in the field, according to the Safra Plan 2017-2020 of the Ministry of Agrarian Development. It is noted in this context that the National Program for Strengthening Family Agriculture (Pronaf) has applied approximately R $ 160 billion in more than 26 million contracts in the last 20 years. These investments revolved around the central objectives of reducing poverty, inequalities and rural exodus, as well as the socioeconomic inclusion of farmers and the food security of the entire population. However, because it is a public policy that involves the application of subsidies and resources of the Union, it needs constant evaluation to identify problems, as well as an understanding of the real effects of its execution, in view of the initial objectives. The aim of this dissertation is to evaluate the impact of the application of Pronaf in the municipality of São Luís de Montes Belos, state of Goiás, based on the evaluation of multiscales (national, state, regional and municipal), from 2003 to 2016 , with some data still more recent, from the year 2017. The methodology used was an analysis of the economic scenario according to a historical panorama, empirical evaluation based on central hypotheses and interviews with farmers of the municipality. Positive impacts on all mentioned scales were verified, especially in the municipality. As a negative impact, it was verified the absence or lack of integration between the projects of Pronaf itself.
