Resumo: Black literature is understood to be literary production centered on writing by black authors, based on their subjectivities, experiences and points of view. According to Octavio Ianni, the configuration of a text as belonging to Afro-Brazilian literature refers to that which addresses both the Afro-descendant subject at the level of the individual, as well as constituting a space for the representation of the human, social, cultural and artistic universe from which this literature is nourished (1988, p. 209). In this sense, the study of fictional works in this context makes it possible to recover the history of black people in a specific temporal context, from the denunciation of slavery and its consequences to the Brazilian diaspora after liberation. As far as authorship is concerned, the existence of Afro-Brazilian literature derives from the particular character of this writing being surrounded by the interaction between writing and experience, marking the commitment to authenticating its identity content. In this sense, this work aims to bring to light the names of two black authors who are representative of Afro-Brazilian literature, one in the context of the 19th century and the other in the 21st century: Maria Firmina dos Reis and Conceição Evaristo. The time frame that separates the two authors is intended to provide a comparative overview of the authors' difficulties, their subjectivities as women, black women and black writers will be observed from a diachronic perspective, based on issues of race, gender and the place of the themes addressed by the works chosen as corpus - Úrsula (1859) and Ponciá Vicêncio (2003). The research focuses on the fictional literary production of the writers and the theoretical framework is based on the postulates of Aníbal Quijano (1997); Wendell Ficher Teixeira Assis (2014); María Lugones (2014); Octavio Ianni (1988); Peter Burke (1992), reflections based on the theorists: Elódia Xavier (1991); Virgínia Woolf (2019); Zahidé Lupinacci Muzart (2013), Mônica Yumi Jinzenji (2011); Anatol Rosenfeld (2009); Hans Robert Jauss (1979); Tzvetan Todorov (2009), among others. Examining how these works address issues related to identity, race, gender and social class, as well as exploring the similarities and differences in the authors' perspectives and representations of black women's experiences over time, aims to contribute to a broader understanding of the literature produced by black women in Brazil

Examining how these works address issues related to identity, race, gender and social class, as well as exploring the similarities and differences in the authors' perspectives and representations of black women's experiences over time, aims to contribute to a broader understanding of the literature produced by black women in BrazilEntende-se por literatura negra a produção literária centrada na escrita de autoria negra, a partir de suas subjetividades, vivências e pontos de vista. XIX, e a outra do séc. Made available in DSpace on 2025-06-11T18:08:53Z (GMT).
