This thesis, developed to defend the Thesis of the Stricto Sensu Graduate Program in Education - Interinstitutional Doctorate, Line of Research: Education, Society and Culture, has the goal to understand the city as a formative space for young people from the relationship between young people, between 14 and 29 years old, with spaces downtown and how the daily experience in the centre of the city can contribute to the formation of these young people. And it is assumed that the city can contribute to the formative process of young people through sociabilities and the appropriation of public and private spaces, being constituents and constituted The study addresses the youth coexistence in spaces in the Initial nucleus of Goiânia (Center). The city, throughout its history, undergoes transformations that culminate in the city itself as a result of capitalist production, in this context, it is treated as a merchandise and the consequences are the homogenization, fragmentation and hierarchization of its space. In this context, authors such as Henri Lefebvre (1991, 1999) propose strategies in disputes for the conquest and exercise of the right to the city by proclaiming the city not as a merchandise, but also as a construction, a place for meetings and for "partying", gathering and exchanges of experiences; Paulo Freire, (2014) presents principles that suit an idea of the city as an educational space by placing the subject as an active being who is transformed by the city, but who also transforms. As a methodological procedure, questionnaires were applied and interviews were carried out with young people aged between 14 and 29 who frequent the city centre.The results indicate that when living experiences in downtown Goiânia, the practices experienced allow the production of political, cultural and affection formative processes when they perceive the city as a space of diversity, freedom, art, and memories
