Resumo: During COVID-19, the hematopoietic system is affected and altered by the systemic infection caused by the virus. Throughout the course of the disease, neutrophilia, eosinophilia, thrombocytopenia, elevated levels of D-dimer and fibrinogen, as well as morphological changes in leukocytes, erythrocytes, and platelets can be observed. This study aims to analyze the main hematological alterations associated with SARS-CoV-2 infection, as well as C-reactive protein and D-dimer in individuals diagnosed with mild and severe COVID-19. This is cross-sectional analytical research using a sample of 40 individuals from Gurupi/TO, who have acute infection. The study participants were divided into two groups: 20 non-hospitalized patients (mild cases) and 20 hospitalized patients (severe cases). The data show that COVID-19 tends to manifest more severely in individuals over the age of 60. Furthermore, the levels of D-dimer and C-reactive protein increased significantly in individuals with severe COVID-19. Hemogram alterations were related to an increase in band neutrophils e segmented neutrophils in severe COVID-19 cases. Additionally, decreased values were found in red blood cells, hematocrit, and hemoglobin in severe COVID-19 cases. It is concluded that there is a clear abnormal pattern of hematological parameters in severe COVID-19 patients. Blood test results are relevant in the prognosis and monitoring of patients with COVID-19

Durante o curso da doença, neutrofilia, eosinofilia, trombocitopenia, níveis elevados de D-dímero e fibrinogênio e alterações morfológicas de leucócitos, eritrócitos e plaquetas podem ser observados. Este trabalho visa analisar as principais alterações hematológicas associadas à infecção por SARS-CoV-2, bem como a proteína C reativa (PCR) e o D-dímero em indivíduos com diagnóstico de COVID-19 leve e COVID-19 grave. Trata-se de uma pesquisa transversal analítica, utilizando-se de uma amostra com 40 indivíduos da cidade de Gurupi/TO, com infecção aguda. Os indivíduos participantes do estudo foram distribuídos em dois grupos: 20 pacientes sem internação hospitalar (casos leves) e 20 hospitalizados (casos graves). Os dados evidenciaram que a COVID-19 se manifesta de forma mais grave em indivíduos com mais de 60 anos. Além disso, os níveis de D-dímero e PCR aumentaram significativamente nos indivíduos que tiveram COVID-19 grave. As alterações no hemograma se relacionaram com um aumento dos bastonetes e segmentados em relação à COVID-19 grave. Além disso, valores diminuídos na COVID-19 grave foram encontrados nas hemácias, hematócrito e hemoglobina. Conclui-se que há um claro padrão anormal de parâmetros hematológicos em pacientes graves com COVID-19.
