Sexual violence against adolescents is because of negative impacts on the mental health of these. Furthermore, the literature contains several studies showing that sexual violence experience can leave teenagers vulnerable to experience other kinds of violence in the future. This work aimed to study the effects of sexual violence on teens mental health and their relation to other experiences of violence. To contextualize, the first chapter provides a brief history of sexual violence against children and teens, and especial Brazilian reports, about the psychopathological consequences that such violence can develop on mental health of these victims. The second chapter is an empirical article that aims to assess the effects of sexual victimization in the health of teens and their relationship with other kinds of victimizations. The study included 513 teens from public schools in Goiânia. For assessment of sexual violence index and other kinds of violence, were used Juvenile Victimization Questionnaire (JVQ) instrument. For mental health assessment we used the Youth Self Report (YSR) as instrument, to evaluates the presence of internalizing and externalizing symptoms. The results showed that teens had experienced more sexual violence in the past year, and this experience was related to the experience of other kinds violence, specifically between pairs or bullying. This study demonstrates that sexual violence experience triggers psychopathological aspects of internalizing and externalizing symptoms in teens mental health, and leave them vulnerable to experience other kinds of violence during their lives.
